Wood Is A Renewable Biomass Fuel
Burning coal to produce electricity to heat homes raises the carbon monoxide levels
because we are burning carbons that have been buried for millions of years. In the
sequence of time, trees have a relatively short lifespan. A trees life cycle is absorbing
carbons and producing electricity, but when the tree dies it releases the carbon back into
the air. Trees fall during storms and due to urban sprawl. Using the fallen trees for
firewood generates heat for homes, burning firewood in an efficient wood stove puts less
particulate into the air. Trees should be replanted regularly to continue this process
helping to save the release of excess greenhouse gases from burning coal, natural gas
and heating oil to heat our homes.
