Chimney Back Puffing
Back puffing smoke rolling back into your home can be caused by many conditions. Ist always make sure the damper is
open, If you experience back puffing only when you first light the fire it maye be necessary to warm the cold chimney to
get an updraft going. Open your damper roll up a sheet of newspaper light it and hold it up into the smoke chamber
before lighting your fire. This will help to increase draft.
Back Puffing can also occur while the fire is burning. You should make sure the chimney is clear of any objects and
sweep the chimney. Even soot can cause the smoke to roll back into your room. Smoke takes the path of least
